Michael H. Mobley

Michael H. Mobley is the retired Director of the Tennessee Division of Radiological Health. Mr. Mobley was with the Tennessee Radiation Control Program for 32 years, working in every aspect of the Division’s Radiation Control Program.

Mr. Mobley holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physics and Mathematics, a Master of Science Degree in Physics, and a Master of Public Administration Degree. He is a 1986 graduate of the Tennessee Government Executive Institute.

Mr. Mobley served on the Department of Energy’s Advisory Committee on External Regulation of Department of Energy Nuclear Safety. He recently served on the National Mammography Quality Assurance Advisory Committee that advises the Food and Drug Administration in its implementation of the Mammography Quality Assurance Standards Act. He has been involved in several national efforts concerning high-level radioactive waste involving the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He has been very active in the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors, Inc. (CRCPD) and has served as Treasurer and Chairperson. In 1996 he was awarded the highest honor of the CRCPD by being named the recipient of the Gerald S. Parker Award. In 2000 he was declared a Life Member of the CRCPD, one of four named in the 33 years of the organization. Mr. Mobley is also a member of the Health Physics Society.

Mr. Mobley has served on the Southeast Compact Commission since August 1984 and is the Commission’s Chairman. Mr. Mobley also served as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Commission for many years.
